The many sayings about valuing your family and friends are the ones that are close to my heart at this time, so I decided to look up a few quotes because I never remember the exact lines anyway and this one jumped out at me :
"You can kiss your family and friends goodbye and put miles between you, but at the same time you carry them with you in your heart, your mind, your stomach, because you do not just live in a world but a world lives in you " Frederick Buechner
Beautifully put sentiment that expresses how I feel. I have moved countries a few times over my life and also cities as well and have friends and family that I rarely see BUT the memories from my time spent with them resides deeply within me.
As I get older and sometimes feel wiser, I have come to realise the importance of being around people who both know, understand and love you regardless. I am far richer in my life because of my husband and children and grandchildren, my parents and siblings and friends that have blessed me with either short relationships or
life long ones. These relationships represent my existence and my growth and support me when I am in need, whether I know it or not. These are my truth bearers, my pain sharers, my good and bad time supporters.
I sit and look around and often gripe that I wish I had a bigger or fancier this or that, but truth be told I am rich where for me it counts, my family and my friends.
I see the wisdom in my ancestors actions and words and in this time of the quick and easy connections and the surface relationship that abound, I believe we all need to rethink the wisdoms of generations passed down to us.
Money and fame may make life a easier place to travel through and I am viva money and prosperity but the old truth that neither will be there to keep you warm if you are alone and do not place value on the people in your life along your journey is so true.
It is never to late to invest in the best bet in the world. Your family and your friends.
So to those I love and who love me back, Thank You all for being apart of my life, I am truly blessed.
