On the journey to being 'grateful' and 'thankful' without conscious thought, I have learnt to take all of those small things into my mindset and to be appreciative of them. I have found that the small things added together and wrapped in gratitude are beyond brilliant and fill my days.
That first cup of truly good coffee I drink with appreciation, the walk I have just got back from after being housebound for 4 days because of extreme cold, the fire I am sitting in front of and the laptop I am writing this on. All of these things make my day so much fuller and easier. For a lot of you, you take these things for granted and never pay them attention - unless they stop working ect.
I would encourage you to spend a month of practicing being grateful and I recommend strongly the book "the Magic" by Rhonda Byrne to aide you in establishing your habit of being aware and thankful. Small things constantly enjoyed over and over again establish a habit of looking at the bright side and attracting more things/people in to your life that are like minded and add even more joy!
Think about it. Stuck in a groove of boredom, indifference, pain, anger..you get the picture; then make a simple move to create a deep reaching spiritual and mental change within yourself and your life.

you are both the cocoon and the butterfly'
