We humans have a complex brain that loves to at times derail us from being present. We often find ourselves living out scenarios in our active imagination that have no role in our NOW; our ego comes out and demands attention or replays our fears so that we feel we need to place our attention there instead of in our NOW.
It is sad how we can be our own stop guard to moving forward. I have come to the realisation that we choose to listen and live in our 'heads' because really 90% of our lives are so normal that we are bored with ourselves! Most of us live simple lives with routines that do not change much from day to day, so living in our imagination where we are 'super spies' or 'princesses' is a seduction that I can understand wanting to turn to. And actually I think at times allowing ones self the 'time out' from normal day to day living is healthy for us BUT not if this is our total existence and that we seek to escape from our real lives.
WE need to learn to be happy with our realities, our now, our normal. That it is great to happy with the simple and not just with things that may be out of our 'normal range'. Be happy with a smile or a hug from a loved one. I believe that by practicing the art of being happy in my now, leads to more happy things occurring. Everything we do or say or think comes from our brain center and is often feed by our emotional center the heart; by feeding the heart happy loving thoughts and by retraining the brain to stop going into 'drama' or 'story time' and being 'happy' in this moment in time, in the 'now' leads to being both present and happy!
" Today I am aware of all the things that make me smile, I am happy
I am present, I am connected to my NOW"
Just a thought
