I do not know why we have to make things so complex that we talk ourselves out of even starting half the time!
I believe it is because really we just don't want to do them in the first place and so we create an excuse.
I can't because it would take too much time/money or a change in my behaviour. And really the fantasy of what we want far out ways the reality of the work it would take to achieve it most of the time, so staying in the fantasy is far more appealing.
We are fabulous at creating excuses for ourselves. I really do not like the saying " I think I will" because really what you are saying to yourself is "Not happening".
My phrase to myself is this
I place myself in the I can mood first around an idea, then I move to the I will phase when I create a time and method and then I jump into the I am, as I achieve my goal.
This works for me because I am a results orientated person. I motivate myself with saying Debra You Can do this
Debra You Will do this
I am doing this, congratulations Debra Rae!
I have this Saying posted around my house to remind me that I have a method so when I choose to forget then
I have a constant reminder that, that is what I am doing choosing.
Life is complex enough so why make it harder for yourself. If you want change then remember KISS.
