You are not alone! The season of 'joy' and 'giving' has taken on a life of its own. Every where we go we are bombarded with advertisements telling us how to celebrate and with what to celebrate with. Have you noticed that we in the western world are under the impression that unless we give to everyone we know and to everyone that provides a service there is something wrong with us. That having a mountain of debt because the average gift price is over $100 and we are expected to give many gifts to be 'loved'. We have work gifts, school gifts, friends and family gifts and charity gifts and then household needs for the 'special day'.
All I can say is STOP. Stop buying into the media and commercial expectations being placed on you. Stop with feeling guilty because you think you need to be that person on TV who has that perfect gift for everyone and the perfect house and perfect meal and perfect life. There is no such person! it is media hype.
Please take a breathe of reality and step away from the over sappy commercialization of Christmas. Look at the things that make you happy - memories that do not revolve around gifts and the cost of gifts - and reinvest in that vision. Make a pledge to yourself to honour what makes memories that stay, verses gifts that get tossed very quickly away. You cannot buy love or happiness folks and it is time for us to remember that.
It might take you time to get to a place of simplifying and relaxing into the Christmas season but I will guarantee that you will feel that the Christmas you find will be one of memories that will warm you heart for years to come.
MAY THIS CHRISTMAS BE FULL OF LAUGHTER AND MISCHIEF
FREINDSHIP AND FAMILY
AND THE JOY OF BEING TOGETHER.
