Allow room for your emotions and also for setbacks. We all have them but allowing them into our plan and into our emotional mind can stop them from becoming the reason we do not continue on. Having a workable smaller set of goals can lead us up the path of success with less stress along the way.
Build a bridge from one goal to another and include a support system for yourself along the way.
I find that todays world with everything available NOW, that we have little patience anymore for long and hard goals. I also find because this mindset is around everyone that others seem to encourage us to be in the instant gratification mode. We need to step back. We need to understand that hanging in and slowly achieving is not a BAD thing, it is actually how most long tem goals are obtained.
So if on the first of January you set up your yearly goals and now in February you have forgotten about them, please take the time to put them back into focus and start doing the steps that lead you to success.
