I know we are visually bombarded by images of the perfect body and it is a lovely size 2. My thought is when did this ridiculous size come into being? in my youth I was a slim and normal size 12, now a size 12 is considered over sized, which is laughable. Try shopping for clothes and believe me size 12's are never available as they are the average size for most woman. Years ago when I was last in Australia I had a conversation with a young Canadian girl working in a dress store and the story went like this: " I hate serving Americans as they come in and insist that they are a size 6 and have a hissy fit when I hand them a 12 or 14 and it fits. they refuse to buy the clothes because of the label size."
We are so attached to a size or number in our heads, we all seem to be in one degree or another, I know that my mother's generation is the same, but I do wonder whether my grandmother's generation was as invested. I doubt it. My grandmother was to busy surviving the aftermath of the war and the life as a young woman in rural Australia and working on her family farm. Money was tight and supply was limited and T.V. was not invented as yet and the concept of celebrity was not in the minds of most of society.
It is funny because it is my belief that I would not be battling with this issue if I was around in the 1930's because I would be forced to be much more physical than I am currently and also my food source would be local and untouched by the chemical garbage that is in our foods today. I hold onto the thought that the chemicals that are in our foods is part of the problem around not only excess of body fat a lot of society has but the dangerous increase in Autism and other behavioural issues we are being battered with now.
Have a great day am now dreaming of a chocolate bar 70 percent of course.....
